Avion Blackman

Avion Blackman is a Christian reggae artist and a long-time member of the gospel reggae band Christafari. Born Avion Claudette Trudy Henrietta Blackman on January 30, 1976, in San Fernando, Trinidad, she is the daughter of Ras Shorty I, a pioneering musician who invented soca and jamoo music. She began performing on stage at age four with her family's band, The Love Circle. Blackman relocated to Los Angeles, California, in 2003. That same year, she joined Christafari as a bassist and vocalist. She is married to Mark Mohr, the founder of the band. Blackman is frequently referred to as a "musicianary" due to her involvement in international gospel outreach and humanitarian efforts. Her solo debut album, *Onyinye*, was released in 2005. The album is a gospel release featuring multilingual lyrics. Her catalog also includes songs such as "Yeshua," "More Than You Know," and "Cries of the City," as well as collaborations on tracks like "So Will I (100 Billion X)," "You Say," and "Revelation Song."
