About Bart Millard
Bart Marshall Millard was born on December 1, 1972, in Greenville, Texas. He is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the Christian rock band MercyMe. Initially aspiring to be a football player, a high school injury led him to pursue music instead.
Millard wrote the song "I Can Only Imagine," which is widely recognized in the Christian music industry. His catalog with MercyMe also includes songs such as "Even If" and "Make It Well." He collaborated with Gloria Gaynor on the song "He Won't Let Go."
In addition to his work with the band, Millard has released solo albums. His first solo project, *Hymned, No. 1*, was released in 2005, followed by *Hymned Again* in 2008. *Hymned Again* received a Grammy nomination for Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album. Millard has been open about his faith and personal struggles, which have influenced his songwriting. MercyMe was named Billboard's Top Christian Artist of the Decade for the 2010s.
