About Bheka Mthethwa
Bheka Mthethwa is a South African gospel-jazz artist, bass player, composer, and producer. Born in Richards Bay (or Empangeni), KwaZulu-Natal, he began his musical journey at age 10, playing keyboards at church. He is known for subverting the traditional role of the bass player by taking center stage as a lead artist.
Mthethwa is a highly sought-after session musician who has worked with artists such as Benjamin Dube, Joyous Celebration, Ntokozo Mbambo, and Khaya Mthethwa. He released his debut single "Ubusisiwe" in 2014, followed by his full-length album *Supernal Sounds* in 2017. The album includes tracks such as "The Lord's Prayer," "I Can See the Light," "As a Man Thinketh," "His Love Is Genuine (Lutsandvo Lwakhe)," and "Revelation 4."
His work has earned him recognition in the gospel music industry. He received an SABC Crown Gospel Award in 2018 for Best Gospel-Jazz Song, and an AGMMA UK Award in 2019 for Instrumental Musician of Excellence.
