About Carl Boberg
Carl Gustav Boberg (1859–1940) was a Swedish poet, preacher, and government official. Born in the township of Mönsterås, Sweden, he served as a lay minister in the Mission Covenant Church of Sweden. In addition to his religious work, Boberg worked as a newspaper editor and served as a member of the Swedish Parliament.
In 1885, Boberg wrote the poem "O Store Gud" ("O Great God") after witnessing a thunderstorm. This poem would later serve as the foundation for the internationally recognized Christian hymn "How Great Thou Art." During his lifetime, he published several collections of poetry and hymns and served on the committee responsible for the first two hymnals of the Swedish Covenant.
