About Carlene Davis
Carlene Davis is a Jamaican gospel and reggae singer who has been active since the 1970s. Following a breast cancer diagnosis in 1996, she rededicated her life to Christianity and transitioned her career to focus on gospel music. She is an ordained minister and holds a Ph.D. in pastoral counseling, and is a graduate of the Ron Kenoly Praise Academy.
Alongside her husband, Tommy Cowan, she operates the Glory Music label and Judah Recording Studio. She co-founded Vessel Ministries in 1998 and is a member of the Family Church on the Rock in Kingston, Jamaica. She is also known for organizing the "Fun In The Son" festival, which promotes music, worship, and community outreach.
Her catalog includes songs such as "My Forever Friend," "This Island Needs Jesus," and "Praising God," as well as the albums *Rock Me Jesus*, *The Assignment*, and *Songs of Zion*. Her 2005 album *Rock Me Jesus* won "Gospel Album of the Year" at the Reggae Soca Music Awards. She was recognized by the Jamaican government in 2010 with the Order of Distinction and was named Best Female Vocalist at the 1990 Caribbean Music Awards.
