About Chris Rice

Chris Rice is an American singer-songwriter in the Contemporary Christian Music genre, born in 1962 in the Washington, D.C. area. He was raised in Clinton, Maryland, by parents who owned a Christian bookstore. Rice holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communication. Before his recording career, he worked as an itinerant speaker and musician for youth and college conferences. He signed with Rocketown Records in 1996 and released his debut album, *Deep Enough to Dream*. His musical style encompasses contemporary Christian music, contemporary folk, and adult contemporary genres, and he is recognized for writing and performing songs on the guitar and piano. Rice was named Christian Songwriter of the Year in 1995 and received the GMA Dove Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 1999. His catalog includes songs such as "Untitled Hymn (Come to Jesus)," "Welcome to Our World," "Lemonade," and "When Did You Fall (In Love With Me)." He also released the album *Run the Earth, Watch the Sky* in 2003. In 2022, an independent investigation determined that allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors between 1995 and 2003 were credible.
