Chrissy Metz

Chrissy Metz is an American actress and singer who has balanced a successful television career with a move into country music. Born on September 29, 1980, in Homestead, Florida, she spent part of her childhood in Japan before her family settled in Gainesville, Florida. She is widely known for her role as Kate Pearson on the NBC television series *This Is Us*, which aired from 2016 to 2022. Following her acting success, Metz signed with EMI Records Nashville to pursue a career in country music. She has publicly discussed her Christian faith and the role of prayer in her life. This personal faith has informed some of her creative projects, including her starring role in the 2019 faith-based film *Breakthrough*. Her music catalog includes the song "I'm Standing With You," which appeared on the *Breakthrough* soundtrack, as well as the track "Talking To God." Beyond her work in television and music, Metz has also authored children's books, including *When I Talk to God, I Talk About Feelings*, released in 2025.
