Born Christy Lynette Hill on November 17, 1973, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was raised in Oklahoma as the daughter of a pastor and a piano teacher. She met her husband and musical collaborator, Nathan Nockels, in 1993 at a Christian Artists Seminar in Estes Park, Colorado, and they married in 1995. Nockels was a member of the Christian music duo Watermark, which released five albums between 1998 and 2005. She was also an early participant in the Passion Conferences, beginning with the first event in 1997. Her catalog includes songs such as "Waiting Here For You," "Christ In Me," "Healing is in Your Hands," "Where Would I Be?," "Benediction (Breath of God)," "Come Magnify," and "Ever Lifting." She launched a solo career in the late 2000s, releasing albums such as *Life Light Up* (2009) and *Into the Glorious* (2012). Nockels and her husband founded an independent record label called Keepers Branch Records. She is also the host of a podcast titled *The Glorious in the Mundane*, which launched in 2016, and the author of the book *The Life You Long For: Learning to Live from a Heart of Rest*.
