Claudelle Clarke

Claudelle Clarke is a Jamaican-born singer and songwriter widely referred to as "The Queen of Reggae Gospel." She began her public singing career at age six in the New Testament Church of God choir in Yallahs, St. Thomas, Jamaica. Her early talent led her to record her first hit single, "Seven Days Make One Week," at age ten with Stranger Cole. Clarke began her professional career as a secular artist, working at the legendary Studio One alongside artists such as Bob Marley, Rita Marley, and Peter Tosh. In 1968, she returned to her Christian roots and began her gospel ministry, transitioning from secular music to a life of faith-based song. Her catalog of recorded gospel songs includes "After All This Life is Over," "God Is A Mountain," "I Saw The Light," "Not My Will," "Lonely Pilgrim," "Something Deep Inside Of Me," and "Turn Your Radio On." Clarke migrated to Canada in 1983 before later moving to the United States. Her journey from a child singer in a church choir to a pioneering figure in reggae gospel music marks a distinctive career that has spanned several decades.
