About Cody Johnson

Cody Daniel Johnson was born on May 21, 1987, in Sebastopol, Texas. He is a singer, songwriter, and former competitive bull rider. Before pursuing music full-time, he worked as a prison supervisor in Huntsville, Texas. He began playing guitar at age 12 and was influenced by traditional country artists like George Strait and Willie Nelson. Johnson self-released several albums, including *Cowboy Like Me* and *Gotta Be Me*, before signing with Warner Music Nashville. He became the first unsigned artist to sell out NRG Stadium in Houston. His catalog includes the albums *Ain't Nothin' to It* and *Leather*, as well as songs such as "'Til You Can't," "On My Way to You," and "By Your Grace." Johnson has openly discussed his Christian faith and its role in his personal life and career. His faith-based recordings include "His Name is Jesus" and "I Can't Even Walk (Without You Holding My Hand)." At the 2022 Country Music Association Awards, he won two awards for the song "'Til You Can't." His album *Leather* won Album of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards.
