Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey is an American singer and songwriter who rose to national prominence as a third-place finalist on the eighth season of *American Idol*. Born on April 24, 1980, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he served as a church music director at Faith Builders International Ministries before beginning his national music career. He later transitioned from a country music focus to contemporary Christian music. His debut Christian album, *Hope in Front of Me*, was released in 2014 and reached number one on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. Gokey has since released several albums, including *Haven't Seen It Yet*, *Jesus People*, and *Rise*. His catalog also includes singles such as "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again," "The Moment The Whole World Changed," "Be Alright," and "We All Need Jesus." Gokey is the founder of the nonprofit organization Better Than I Found It, established in honor of his late first wife, Sophia. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and has won multiple K-LOVE Fan Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year. He has also received Dove Awards for his contributions to Christian music, and several of his singles, including "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" and "Haven't Seen It Yet," have earned RIAA Gold certifications.
