Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton is an American singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman, born Dolly Rebecca Parton on January 19, 1946, in Pittman Center, Tennessee. While she is globally recognized as a country music icon, her roots are deeply planted in the Christian faith. She grew up in the Church of God, where her maternal grandfather was a preacher, and she began singing hymns and playing guitar at church services at the age of six. Throughout her career, Parton has recorded various spiritual and gospel-themed songs and albums, including *The Golden Streets of Glory* and *Precious Memories*. Her catalog includes faith-infused songs such as "Coat of Many Colors," "Jesus & Gravity," and "Hello God." She has also collaborated with Christian music artists, recording "There Was Jesus" with Zach Williams and "God Only Knows" with for KING & COUNTRY. Parton has stated that her faith is a significant part of her life and identity. Her work in gospel music has been recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for "There Was Jesus" in 2021.
