Dr Tumi

Dr Tumi, whose real name is Tumišang Makweya, is a South African gospel recording artist and minister of song. Born in 1981 in Seshego, Limpopo, he is a qualified medical doctor who studied at the Medical University of Southern Africa (Medunsa). He began his music career in Sunday school and later gained prominence as the lead singer of the gospel group Intense. A songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist, Dr Tumi writes word-based gospel music. His debut solo album, *Heart of a King*, was released in 2013. He is known for his live worship recordings, including *The Gathering of Worshippers* series. His catalog includes songs such as "Someone Like Me," "Nothing Without You," "No Other God," "Overflow," "All Of Me," "You Are Here," "Son Of God," and "Because of Jesus." In 2012, Dr Tumi won the Best R&B Gospel Award at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards for *Heart of a King*. His album *Love and Grace* is certified double platinum. In 2017, he became the first gospel artist to single-handedly fill the Ticketpro Dome in South Africa.
