About Eric Moyo
Eric Moyo (1981–2023) was a Zimbabwean-born singer and gospel musician. He rose to prominence as the inaugural winner of *Idols East Africa* in 2008.
In 2014, Moyo joined the renowned South African gospel choir Joyous Celebration after being discovered by founder Lindelani Mkhize. He served as a tenor vocalist for the ensemble, featuring on albums starting from *Joyous 18*. Known for his multilingual vocal versatility, he performed in English, Zulu, and other African languages.
His recorded work with Joyous Celebration includes the songs "Atawale (Live)" and "On the Cross (Live)," both released in 2018. He also recorded "Jesu Akandinakira (Live)" with the choir and "Kukhon 'igama (Live)" with Gospel Silinda. As a member of Joyous Celebration, Moyo contributed to multi-platinum albums and South African Music Award-winning projects.
Eric Moyo passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 41, following a collapse on stage during a performance in South Africa.
