Gary McSpadden

Gary McSpadden (1943–2020) was an American gospel singer, songwriter, pastor, and television host. Born in Mangum, Oklahoma, and raised in Lubbock, Texas, he began his professional career in the early 1960s by filling in for Jake Hess in The Statesmen Quartet. Over the decades, he performed with several notable gospel groups, including The Oak Ridge Boys, The Imperials, the Bill Gaither Trio, and the Gaither Vocal Band. McSpadden released his debut solo album in 1965. His recorded catalog includes songs such as "He Came Down To My Level (Live)," "Because He Lives (Live)," "Jesus Lord To Me," "Hallelujah Praise The Lamb," and "No Other Name But Jesus." He also released the album *Thank You* in 2007. His work with the Gaither Vocal Band earned him three Grammy Award nominations. He was nominated in 1984 for Best Gospel Performance (Duo/Group) for the track "No Other Name But Jesus," in 1985 for the album *New Point Of View*, and in 1988 for the album *Welcome Back Home*. Later in his career, McSpadden served as a pastor at the Faith and Wisdom Church in Branson, Missouri. He passed away on April 15, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
