Gloria Gaither

Gloria Gaither is a Christian singer-songwriter, author, and academic. Born Gloria Lee Sickal in 1942, she is married to Bill Gaither, with whom she has written more than 700 songs. She performed and recorded with the Bill Gaither Trio from 1965 through 1991. Since 1991, she has served as a performer, songwriter, and narrator for the Gaither Homecoming series. Gaither holds a Master of Arts degree in British and American Literature and has authored more than 40 books. She is an advocate for songwriting education and has served on the Board of Directors for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Her songwriting catalog includes well-known gospel songs such as "Because He Lives," "He Touched Me," "Something Beautiful," "The Family of God," "I Am a Promise," "The King is Coming," "It Is Finished," and "Sinner Saved by Grace." In 2000, she and Bill Gaither were named ASCAP Christian Songwriters of the Century. She has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and is a recipient of multiple Grammy Awards and over 40 GMA Dove Awards.
