Greg Nelson

Greg Nelson, born September 10, 1948, in Bismarck, North Dakota, is a Nashville-based music producer, songwriter, arranger, and conductor who has been a significant figure in Christian music. His work has shaped the sound of the genre for decades, both through his own productions and his leadership in the industry. Nelson has produced recordings for a wide range of prominent Christian artists, including Sandi Patty, Steve Green, Larnelle Harris, Twila Paris, and Richard Smallwood. He also served as a Creative Supervisor for song and writer development at LifeWay Worship and co-founded the labels Spirit Records and Refuge Records. Among his most recognized songwriting contributions is the co-written modern classic "People Need The Lord." In 1994, Nelson composed and produced the modern oratorio *Saviour* with Bob Farrell, and he released the album *Emmanuel* in 1997. His extensive career has been honored with 20 Dove Awards and 7 Grammy Awards for his production work. In 2018, he was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, and he has also received the Gospel Music Association "Impact Award."
