Holly Dunn

Holly Suzette Dunn (1957–2016) was an American country music singer and songwriter. Born in San Antonio, Texas, to a Church of Christ minister father, she rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Her breakthrough hit, "Daddy's Hands" (1986), was a tribute to her father and helped establish her as a notable voice in country music. Dunn released ten studio albums during her career and earned several industry honors. She received the Academy of Country Music Award for Top New Female Vocalist in 1987 and the Country Music Association Horizon Award the same year. In 1989, she was named BMI Songwriter of the Year. Her greatest hits collection, "Milestones," was certified Gold in 1991. She was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1989. Her catalog of songs includes "Are You Ever Gonna Love Me," "You Really Had Me Going," "On the Wings of an Angel," "The Blue Rose of Texas," "Maybe I Mean Yes," and "Two Too Many." Dunn retired from the music industry in 2003 to pursue a career in visual arts, specifically pastel painting. She passed away in 2016 following a battle with ovarian cancer.
