J.J. Hairston

J.J. Hairston is a gospel singer, songwriter, and the director of the choir Youthful Praise. Born in Brooklyn, New York, his musical background includes growing up in the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Youthful Praise was founded in 1991 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Hairston also serves as the Senior Pastor of The Gathering Place church in Washington, D.C. He is the founder and CEO of the gospel record label Jamestown Music. Alongside his wife, Trina, he has authored a book titled "Amazing Love." His catalog includes songs such as "You Get The Glory," "Miracle Worker," "Excess Love Remix," "Forever," "No One Like Our God," "You Deserve It," "Everything For Me," and "Have Your Way." The single "You Deserve It" reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs Chart in 2017. Hairston and Youthful Praise have won multiple Stellar Gospel Music Awards. He also received a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song in 2018, and has received a Billboard Music Award and an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Award.
