About John P. Kee
John P. Kee, born John Prince Kee in 1962 in Durham, North Carolina, is an American gospel singer, songwriter, and pastor. The fifteenth of sixteen children, he studied music at the North Carolina School of the Arts and later at Yuba College in California. Early in his career, he played with secular groups such as the Blackbyrds and Cameo before dedicating his life to gospel ministry.
Kee is known for blending traditional gospel with contemporary gospel music, a style he has developed while leading his ensemble, the New Life Community Choir. He is also the founder and pastor of the New Life Fellowship Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. His work has earned him the widely used title "The Prince of Gospel Music."
His catalog includes songs such as "Life and Favor," "Stand," "I Believe," "I Made It Out," "Jesus is Real," "I Do Worship," "Show Up," and "Lily in the Valley." Through his music and ministry, Kee has become a recognized figure in modern gospel choir music.
