Johnny Drille

Johnny Drille, born John Ighodaro on July 5, 1990, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer. He began his musical journey as a singer and keyboardist in his father's church choir in Benin City, Nigeria. He gained public attention after competing in the sixth season of *Project Fame West Africa* in 2013. He signed with Mavin Records in 2017 after his cover of Di'Ja's "Awww" attracted the attention of Don Jazzy. His musical style is a fusion of folk, alternative, soul, and Afrobeats, and he is known for his introspective songwriting and live instrumentation. He has also served as a music director in a church setting. His catalog includes the album *Before We Fall Asleep* and the EPs *Home* and *Hard Guy Confessions*. He has also released songs such as "Papa," "Wait For Me," and "How Are You (My Friend)." While his early foundations were in church music, Johnny Drille has stated he does not wish to be labeled as a gospel artist, choosing instead to work as a mainstream artist.
