Josh Turner

Josh Turner, a country singer and songwriter known for his deep, resonant baritone vocal style, was born Joshua Otis Turner on November 20, 1977, in Hannah, South Carolina. Growing up in the church, he founded a gospel quartet called Thankful Hearts before signing with MCA Nashville Records in 2003. His faith has remained an integral part of his personal life and artistic decision-making. Turner released his debut album, *Long Black Train*, in 2003. In 2018, he released a dedicated gospel album titled *I Serve a Savior*, which includes songs such as "I Serve A Savior," "Me And God," and a cover of "Three Wooden Crosses." He followed this with the holiday album *King Size Manger* in 2021. His contributions to gospel music have been recognized with three GMA Dove Award nominations. He won his first Dove Award in 2021 for the song "I Saw The Light," featuring Sonya Isaacs. In 2023, Turner was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian honor in South Carolina, and he was inducted into the South Carolina Entertainment and Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
