About Judith Babirye
Judith Babirye was born on September 23, 1977, in Nyenga, Buikwe District, Uganda. She is a Ugandan gospel musician and a former senior pastor at New Life Deliverance Church in Kampala. Her music is characterized by a blend of traditional Ugandan gospel rhythms and contemporary Christian worship themes.
Babirye’s musical career began during her secondary education at Ndejje Senior School and Iganga Secondary School, where she composed school anthems. She later graduated from Makerere University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Tourism. Her catalog includes songs such as "Highway," "Beera Nange," "Wambatira," "Omusaayi gwa Yesu," "Ekitibwa kyo Mukama," "Maama," "Nzijukira," and "Yesu Asobola."
Her work has been recognized with several honors. She won Best Gospel Single for "Beera Nange" at the 2006 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and received Album of the Year at the 2007 Victoria Gospel Music Awards (VIGA). In addition to her music and pastoral work, Babirye served as an elected Member of Parliament representing the Buikwe District Women Constituency from 2016 to 2021.
