London Community Gospel Choir

The London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) is a British gospel ensemble founded in 1982 by Reverend Bazil Meade, Lawrence Johnson, Delroy Powell, and John Francis. The choir was initially formed for a single concert at Kensington Temple, and the success of that event led to the establishment of a permanent group. The choir’s mission is described as spreading love and light through music, with a vision that blends music and faith. The group is known for an inter-denominational approach that brought gospel music into secular venues. The choir has performed at major events including the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Glastonbury, and the FA Cup Final. They have provided backing vocals for numerous artists, including Madonna, Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Sam Smith. The choir also recorded “Circle of Life” for the original motion picture soundtrack of *The Lion King*, a song that was nominated for Best Original Song at the 1995 Academy Awards. The London Community Gospel Choir is a Guinness World Record-breaking ensemble. Their catalog includes the album *Out of Many - One Voice* and songs such as “A Life Lived with Grace” (with Gregory Porter), “Keep Moving,” and “Sun In The Rain.”
