About Marvin Sapp

Marvin Louis Sapp was born on January 28, 1967, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and began singing in church at the age of four. He first gained national attention as a member of the acclaimed gospel group Commissioned, joining in 1990. In 1996, he launched his career as a solo contemporary gospel artist. Sapp is an ordained Bishop and serves as the senior pastor of The Chosen Vessel Cathedral in Fort Worth, Texas. He previously co-founded the Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He describes himself as a preacher called by God who is gifted to sing, a perspective that has shaped his ministry and music. His catalog includes songs such as "Never Would Have Made It," "Praise Him in Advance," "The Best In Me," "Thank You For It All," "You Are God Alone," "My Testimony," "Perfect Peace," and "Yes You Can." His album *Thirsty* was certified gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies. Over the course of his career, he has received 13 Grammy nominations and 24 Stellar Awards, including seven Stellar Awards in 2009. He has three children: Marvin II, MaKaila, and Madisson.
