About Mercy Chinwo
Mercy Chinwo is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and minister known for her worship music. Born Mercy Nnenda Chinwo on September 5, 1990, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, she began singing in her church's children's choir at the age of six. She gained national recognition after winning the second season of the singing competition *Nigerian Idol* in 2012.
She released her debut album, *The Cross: My Gaze*, in 2018. Her catalog includes songs such as "Excess Love," "More Than Gold," "Obinasom," "Na You Dey Reign," "All That Matters," "Testimony," "Igwe," and "Confidence." She was previously signed to the record label EeZee Conceptz and is a co-founder of the record label GNT Nation.
Her work has been recognized with several awards. In 2018, she won Best Gospel Artiste at the Climax Awards. The following year, she won Africa Gospel New Artiste of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year, and Africa Gospel Song of the Year for "Excess Love" at the Africa Gospel Awards Festival. In 2020, she won Gospel Artiste of the Year at the AFRIMMA Awards. She married Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa in 2022.
