About Mississippi Children's Choir
The Mississippi Children’s Choir was a gospel music group formed in 1990. The choir was organized as an opening act for the Mississippi Mass Choir and consisted of approximately 200 youth from across Mississippi, ranging in age from seven to 17. The group was directed by Dorcus Curry Thigpen, who also directed the Mississippi Mass Choir.
The choir released their debut album, *Children of the King*, in 1992. Their second album, *A New Creation*, followed in 1994 and featured soloist Bryan Andrew Wilson. The group’s final recording, *When God’s Children Get Together*, was released in 1998. Their catalog includes songs such as “The Shepherd Song,” “Things Go Better With Christ,” “Anointing,” “His Eye Is On the Sparrow,” and “I’m Blessed.”
The Mississippi Children’s Choir recorded for Malaco Records. The group is no longer in existence, as all original members have reached adulthood. Notable alumni include Bryan Andrew Wilson, Dathan Thigpen, Rashad Smith, and Charles Carter.
