About Norma Jean

Norma Jean Beasler, known professionally as Norma Jean, was born on January 30, 1938, in Wellston, Oklahoma. She is an American country music singer who rose to prominence in the early 1960s. She became a familiar face to national audiences as a featured performer on *The Porter Wagoner Show* from 1961 to 1967. During her career, she recorded twenty albums for RCA Victor between 1964 and 1973. She also had 13 country singles in Billboard's Country Top 40 between 1963 and 1968 and received two Grammy nominations. She was a member of the Grand Ole Opry for several years. After her time on *The Porter Wagoner Show*, Norma Jean continued to record and later turned toward gospel music. Her gospel catalog includes the album *Heaven's Just a Prayer Away*, which features the song "Where The Roses Never Fade." She also released the album *Norma Jean's Cowboy Church Gospel*.
