The Hayo hitmaker said he wants to lead by example.
“It’s a known fact that gospel artists often don’t practise what they preach.
“I was born and raised in the church and it’s my responsibility and my duty as a Christian to make sure I live a life that pleases God.
“It’s the same reason that has kept me grounded since I moved to Joburg in 2000.”
Omega’s father Abraham Khunou is the pastor at the Poellano Fellowship Ministry in North West.
Omega continues to serve God at the church founded by his parents.
“I then went to study music at Funda Community College in 2006 before I was recruited to join Spirit of Praise.
“Although I joined them after they had already released two albums, I was lucky to have released four albums with them.
“I was even more blessed when Spirit Music offered me a recording deal in 2014.”
Omega said he has since released two albums under their wing and he’s preparing to record a live DVD in September.
Omega shared some advice with aspiring musicians.
He said: “People must learn to embrace each and every opportunity they’re given to perform. I was discovered at a funeral. Luckily, managers of the record label were there.
You never know who may be listening when you sing.”
