About Owl City
Owl City is an American electronic music project created in 2007 by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Adam Young. The project originated in Owatonna, Minnesota, where Young began recording music in his parents' basement to combat insomnia. Young is the sole member of the project, and while he is a professing Christian who incorporates his faith into his life and some of his music, he has stated that Owl City is not a Christian music project.
Owl City gained mainstream popularity with the 2009 album *Ocean Eyes* and its lead single, "Fireflies." The album was certified 2× Platinum in the United States, and "Fireflies" became a Diamond-certified single. Young has released multiple studio albums under the Owl City name, including *Maybe I'm Dreaming* (2008), *All Things Bright and Beautiful* (2011), *The Midsummer Station* (2012), *Mobile Orchestra* (2015), *Cinematic* (2018), and *Coco Moon* (2023).
The artist has recorded songs for various animated films, including *Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole*, *Wreck-It Ralph*, *The Croods*, and *The Smurfs 2*. His catalog includes songs such as "Fireflies," "Good Time," "Galaxies," "You're Not Alone," and covers of "If I Stand" and "Untitled Hymn," as well as holiday tracks like "Peppermint Winter" and "The Christmas Song."
