Rich Mullins

Rich Mullins, born Richard Wayne Mullins (1955–1997), was an American contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter. Raised in a Quaker family before later attending a Christian church, he became widely recognized for writing the worship song "Awesome God." His music often explored themes of faith, doubt, and the struggle of the Christian life. Mullins was known for his simple lifestyle, often donating the majority of his earnings to charity. He established a ministry called "The Kid Brothers of St. Frank," inspired by his devotion to St. Francis of Assisi. In his later years, he moved to a Navajo reservation to teach music to children. Mullins died in a car accident in September 1997. His catalog includes songs such as "If I Stand," "Creed," "Hold Me Jesus," "Sing Your Praise to the Lord," "Elijah," "My Deliverer," and "While the Nations Rage." Over the course of his career, he was nominated for 21 GMA Dove Awards and won four. Multiple albums, including *A Liturgy, a Legacy, & a Ragamuffin Band*, were ranked by *CCM Magazine* in their list of the 100 Greatest Albums in Christian Music.
