Richard Shekari

Richard Shekari is a gospel songwriter, singer, and author based in Abuja, Nigeria. Born on April 11, 1981, in Bauchi, Nigeria, his musical foundation began in the early 1990s when he joined a church choir as a tenor. This early experience in worship music would later shape his artistic direction. In his teenage years, Shekari explored a different musical path, releasing two underground rap albums. His current style blends his choir background with his experience as a rap lyricist, creating a distinctive sound. He describes his music as faith-centered and intended for worship rather than performance. Beyond music, Shekari is an architect by training and has also worked as a former paramedic. His catalog includes songs such as "Let There Be Light," "Higher and Higher," "Hold Me Close," "Each New Day," "The Dawn of Grace," "Roar of Praise," "Glory to the Lord," and "Yes Lord."
