About Rick Founds
Rick Founds is an American Christian singer-songwriter and worship leader, born in December 1954 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He began leading worship at age 14 and has written over 300 songs. For 14 years, he served as a Minister of Music at a California church, and he also taught visual technology at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California, for seven years. He is based in Fallbrook, California.
Founds is best known for composing the widely used worship song "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High," written in 1989. His songwriting process often involved integrating daily devotional scripture reading with guitar accompaniment. His catalog also includes songs such as "Jesus, Draw Me Close," "I Love Your Grace," "Jesus, Mighty God," and "I Need You." In 2004, he released the songs "After All," "Everybody Praise Him!," and "Carry Me Away."
In 2018, Founds was the recipient of the first CCLI GMA Honors Milestone Award for "Lord, I Lift Your Name on High." The song was reported by CCLI as the most popular song used in American evangelical churches from 1997 to 2003.
