Rodney Jordan

Rodney Jordan is a professional jazz bassist, educator, and Christian pastor. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, he began his musical journey playing bass in church. He serves as an Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at Florida State University and as a lead pastor at an Every Nation church in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jordan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Jackson State University. He has performed and recorded with numerous jazz musicians, including Marcus Roberts and Rene Marie, and has held positions as a principal or assistant principal bassist with the Mississippi and Albany Symphony Orchestras. His album *Memphis Blue* spent 26 weeks on the JazzWeek Top 100 Chart, and *Ethnomusicology Volume 1* (with Russell Gunn) received a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Jazz Recording in 2000. His discography includes the albums *Memphis Blue*, *Conversations* (with Christian Fabian), *Abundance of Rain*, and *Playing Jazz*. He is also a featured artist on the Christian song "Bless the Lord" by Every Nation Music.
