Rudy Pérez

Rudy Amado Pérez was born on May 14, 1958, in Pinar del Río, Cuba. He immigrated to the United States as a child via the "Freedom Flights." He is a musician, songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, and entertainment entrepreneur. Pérez has composed over 1,000 songs, with more than 300 reaching number one or top-ten chart positions. He is a founding partner of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS) and co-founder of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. Billboard magazine named him "Producer of the Decade" for 2000–2010. He has won five Grammy Awards and 19 Grammy nominations throughout his career. He is also a five-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year award winner and the first Latin producer to win Billboard's Producer of the Year award four consecutive years. In recent years, Pérez has partnered with Gaither Music Group to produce faith-based music. This collaboration includes a Spanish-language version of the gospel classic "Because He Lives" ("Porque El Vive"). He has expressed a personal commitment to creating music with lyrics of hope and faith. He authored a memoir titled *The Latin Hitmaker: My Journey from Cuban Refugee to World-Renowned Record Producer and Songwriter*.
