About Rufftone

Roy Smith Mwatia, known professionally as Rufftone, is a Kenyan gospel musician. He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and began his music career in 1999, initially performing as a ragga artist. In 2001, he transitioned to gospel music. Rufftone is known for incorporating local languages and traditional sounds into his music. His catalog includes songs such as "Mungu Baba" (feat. The GSU), "Mwikhulu," "Tsinyanga Tsiwere," "Usichoke," and "Sirudi Misri." He was nominated for the 2003 Kora Awards for the songs "Mwikhulu" and "Tsinyanga Tsiwere." He is the elder brother of Kenyan gospel musician Daddy Owen. Rufftone also served as the CEO of Lampstand Records.
