About Russ Taff

Russ Taff is a singer and songwriter in gospel and Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), born on November 11, 1953, in Farmersville, California. He first gained prominence as the lead vocalist for the gospel group The Imperials from 1977 to 1981. Taff later became a member of the Gaither Vocal Band and has been a frequent participant in Gaither Homecoming concerts. Taff has built a substantial solo career, releasing albums such as "Medals," "Under Their Influence," and "Believe." His catalog includes songs like "We Will Stand," "Praise The Lord," "When He Set Me Free," and "I'm Not Alone." He also appears as a featured artist on the song "Ain't No Grave." His contributions to Christian music have earned him six Grammy Awards and multiple GMA Dove Awards. Taff has been inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame three times: as a soloist, as a member of The Imperials, and as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band. He has also been inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. Beyond his musical achievements, Taff has publicly shared his personal testimony, speaking about his upbringing in a pastor's home, childhood trauma, and his battle with alcoholism.
