Stuart Townend

Stuart Townend is an English Christian worship leader, musician, and songwriter known for his contributions to contemporary hymnody. He was born in 1963 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Townend is based in Brighton, where he is a member of the Church of Christ the King. His songwriting is noted for its focus on biblical and theological accuracy. Townend previously worked for Kingsway Music, where he served as Head of Music. He frequently travels as a speaker and worship leader at international Christian events and conferences. Townend’s catalog includes well-known songs such as “In Christ Alone,” “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us,” “The Power of the Cross,” “Across the Lands (Author of Creation),” “Forever Jesus,” and “Creation Sings.” He has also released albums including *Say the Word* and *Monument to Mercy*. His albums *Ruach* (1994) and *Beautiful Saviour* (1998) each won the Christian Booksellers Convention Album of the Year.
