The Hoppers

The Hoppers are a long-standing American Southern Gospel family group from North Carolina. The group originated in 1957 as the Hopper Brothers and Connie, a family-based ensemble that transitioned to the name "The Hoppers" in the late 1970s. Their music style combines Southern Gospel with elements of pop, country, and rock. The Hoppers performed at the 1981 inaugural ceremony for President Ronald Reagan. They are also recognized for their long-term participation in the Gaither Homecoming tours and concert films. The group has consistently reached the Billboard and Singing News Radio charts. The Hoppers have been honored with several significant awards. They received the Mixed Vocal Group award from the Southern Gospel Music Association in 1982 and 1983. Claude and Connie Hopper were inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2014 and 2010, respectively. The group was inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2012. The group's catalog includes songs such as "Jerusalem," "Yahweh," "It's Shouting Time in Heaven," "He Didn't Just Carry The Cross, He Carried Me," "Life is Good," "I'll Take You Home," "Here I Am," and "Yes I Am." The current lineup includes Dean Hopper, his wife Kim, and their daughter Karlye.
