The Oak Ridge Boys

The Oak Ridge Boys began as a Southern gospel quartet in the 1940s, originally performing as the Oak Ridge Quartet and named after their frequent appearances in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. They became a prominent act in Southern gospel music during the 1950s before officially changing their name to The Oak Ridge Boys in the early 1960s. While the group transitioned to country music in the mid-1970s and achieved significant commercial success, they have continued to record and perform gospel music throughout their career. Their musical style is characterized by four-part vocal harmonies. The long-standing lineup that led their country crossover consists of Duane Allen, Joe Bonsall, William Lee Golden, and Richard Sterban. The Oak Ridge Boys have released dedicated gospel projects, including the album *Rock of Ages: Hymns and Gospel Favorites*. Their gospel catalog includes songs such as "Time Has Made A Change In Me," "Sweet Jesus," "Peace Within," "Life's Railway To Heaven," "Father, I Stretch My Hands To Thee," and "Farther Along." The group was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. Over the course of their career, they have earned 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album.
