About Wahu Kagwi
Wahu Kagwi, known professionally as Wahu, is a Kenyan singer-songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur who began her music career in 2000 as a secular Afropop and R&B artist. Born on March 22, 1980, in Nairobi, Kenya, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Communication from the University of Nairobi.
In November 2017, Wahu publicly announced her decision to transition to gospel music. Her gospel catalog includes songs such as "Sifa," "My Everything," "Nifanane Nawe," and "Better Day." She also recorded the track "Yesu Ana" featuring Size 8. In 2021, she released the *Wahu Gospel* EP, which compiles several of her gospel recordings.
Wahu is married to fellow Kenyan musician David Mathenge, known as Nameless. Over the course of her career, she has received several honors, including the Best Female Artist award at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008 and the Best Female Artist award at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards in 2008. In 2026, she was the recipient of the Music Excellence Award from ONErpm Kenya.
