About Wintley Phipps
Wintley Phipps is an ordained Seventh-day Adventist minister and a gospel singer known for his bass-baritone voice. Born Wintley Augustus Phipps, Sr. on January 7, 1955, in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago, he moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, at an early age. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from Oakwood College (now Oakwood University) and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University.
Phipps has served as a pastor at several churches and is also a songwriter and record producer. Beyond his music and ministry, he is the founder and CEO of the U.S. Dream Academy, a non-profit organization that provides mentoring to children of incarcerated parents. His vocal performances have reached the highest levels of government, as he has performed for multiple U.S. Presidents, including Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
His recorded catalog includes several albums of hymns and inspirational music. Among his releases are *The Classics* (2008), *To God Be the Glory* (2011), *Near the Cross* (2013), *I Surrender All* (2014), *Amazing Grace (The Best of Wintley Phipps)* (2018), and *Loving God My Greatest Romance* (2022). He also released *"Just As I Am" and Other Favorite Hymns of Billy Graham* in 2005.
