Pulpit CommentaryVerse 9. - This somewhat sudden return to the name of Meshelemiah is evidently in order to put his numbers in a convenient position, to be added to those of Obed-edom just stated, thus making in all eighty porters from the Korabites.

Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(9) And Meshelemiah.--This goes back to 1Chronicles 26:2, and forms a kind of supplement to the statement there. The Korhite (Kohathite) porters make a total of 80 families; viz., 62 of Obed-edom, and 18 of Meshelemiah.
