Ellicott's Commentary
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(68) Jokmeam.--Joshua has Kibzaim, a name omitted by the LXX. Vatic. Jokmeam is probably right. Beth-horon, Gibeon, and Aijalon, the scenes of the great and providentially determined overthrow of the five kings of the Amorites, were appropriately assigned to the sacred tribe of Levi.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewJokmeam,יָקְמְעָם֙ (yā·qə·mə·‘ām)Noun - proper - feminine singularStrong's 3361: Jokmeam -- 'let the people be established', a city in Northern IsraelBeth-horon,חוֹר֖וֹן (ḥō·w·rō·wn)Noun - proper - feminine singularStrong's 1032: Beth-horon -- 'place of a hollow', two adjoining cities in PalestineJump to PreviousBeth Bethhoron Beth-Horon Beth-Hor'on Horon Jokmeam Lands Open Outskirts Pasture Suburbs
