Pulpit CommentaryVerse 27. - And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab. Compare what is said of Ahaziah of Israel in 1 Kings 22:52, 53, and of Jehoram of Judah in the present chapter (ver. 18). What is specially intended is that Ahaziah kept up the Baal-worship introduced by his father into Judah. And did evil in the sight of the Lord, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab; literally, for he was related by marriage to the house of Ahab. חתן is any relation by marriage, not "son-in-law" in particular (see Exodus 3:1, and the comment on the place).

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(27) The son-in-law of the house of Ahab.--Comp. 2Chronicles 22:4, "his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly;" and notice the threefold repetition of the words "the house of Ahab."
