We are not told in what position the man was when Daniel first saw him. Later on (Daniel 12:6) he is described as being upon or above the waters. In this position he symbolises God as supreme over the nations who are represented by the Tigris.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewHis body [was]וּגְוִיָּת֣וֹ (ū·ḡə·wî·yā·ṯōw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singular construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1472: A body, corpselike beryl,כְתַרְשִׁ֗ישׁ (ḵə·ṯar·šîš)Preposition-k | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 8658: (a precious stone) perhaps yellow jasperhis faceוּפָנָ֞יו (ū·p̄ā·nāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - common plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 6440: The facelike the brillianceכְּמַרְאֵ֤ה (kə·mar·’êh)Preposition-k | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 4758: Sight, appearance, visionof lightning,בָרָק֙ (ḇā·rāq)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 1300: Lightning, a gleam, a flashing swordhis eyesוְעֵינָיו֙ (wə·‘ê·nāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - cdc | third person masculine singularStrong's 5869: An eye, a fountainlike flamingאֵ֔שׁ (’êš)Noun - common singularStrong's 784: A firetorches,כְּלַפִּ֣ידֵי (kə·lap·pî·ḏê)Preposition-k | Noun - masculine plural constructStrong's 3940: A flambeau, lamp, flamehis armsוּזְרֹֽעֹתָיו֙ (ū·zə·rō·‘ō·ṯāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 2220: The arm, the foreleg, forceand legsוּמַרְגְּלֹתָ֔יו (ū·mar·gə·lō·ṯāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 4772: A footpiece, at the foot, the footlike the gleamכְּעֵ֖ין (kə·‘ên)Preposition-k | Noun - common singular constructStrong's 5869: An eye, a fountainof polishedקָלָ֑ל (qā·lāl)Adjective - masculine singularStrong's 7044: Brightenedbronze,נְחֹ֣שֶׁת (nə·ḥō·šeṯ)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 5178: Copper, something made of that metal, coin, a fetter, baseand the soundוְק֥וֹל (wə·qō·wl)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 6963: A voice, soundof his wordsדְּבָרָ֖יו (də·ḇā·rāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1697: A word, a matter, thing, a causelike the soundכְּק֥וֹל (kə·qō·wl)Preposition-k | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 6963: A voice, soundof a multitude.הָמֽוֹן׃ (hā·mō·wn)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 1995: A noise, tumult, crowd, disquietude, wealthJump to PreviousAppearance Arms Beryl Body Brass Bronze Burnished Color Colour Eyes Face Feet Fire Flaming Gleam Lightning Multitude Polished Sound Torches Tumult Voice Words
