Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English ReadersTHE PRESENTATION OF THE WORK TO MOSES, AND HIS APPROVAL OF IT.(33-43) It is probable that the various parts of the work were presented to Moses for inspection as they were completed; that if they did not satisfy him, they might be altered and amended at once. Moses alone had seen "the pattern in the mount," and Moses alone could say if the work came up to the required standard. We are not told that anything was rejected; and it is quite possible that all the portions of the work were satisfactorily rendered at their first essay by the several workmen; for the workmen, it must be remembered, besides receiving instructions from Moses, were divinely assisted in the production of their several works (Exo. 36:42).Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewThen they broughtוַיָּבִ֤יאוּ (way·yā·ḇî·’ū)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Hifil - Consecutive imperfect - third person masculine pluralStrong's 935: To come in, come, go in, gothe tabernacleהַמִּשְׁכָּן֙ (ham·miš·kān)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 4908: A residence, the Tabernacletoאֶל־ (’el-)PrepositionStrong's 413: Near, with, among, toMoses:מֹשֶׁ֔ה (mō·šeh)Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 4872: Moses -- a great Israelite leader, prophet and lawgiverthe tentהָאֹ֖הֶל (hā·’ō·hel)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 168: A tentwith allכָּל־ (kāl-)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3605: The whole, all, any, everyits furnishings,כֵּלָ֑יו (kê·lāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 3627: Something prepared, any apparatusits clasps,קְרָסָ֣יו (qə·rā·sāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 7165: A knob, belaying-pinits frames,קְרָשָׁ֔יו (qə·rā·šāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 7175: A slab, plank, a deck of a, shipits crossbars,בְּרִיחָ֖יו (bə·rî·ḥāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 1280: A boltand its postsוְעַמֻּדָ֥יו (wə·‘am·mu·ḏāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 5982: A column, a stand, platformand bases;וַאֲדָנָֽיו׃ (wa·’ă·ḏā·nāw)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 134: A base, pedestalJump to PreviousBars Bases Boards Buttons Clasps Crossbars Frames Furnishings Furniture Hooks House Moses Pillars Posts Rods Sockets Tabernacle Taches Tent Utensils
