Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(6) And the priest shall look on him again.--If, on further examination at the end of another week, the priest finds that the bright spot looks darker, and that it has not spread, he is to pronounce the patient clean, and set him at liberty, since it was simply an ordinary scurf; but though not leprous, the eruption indicated some impurity in his blood, and he had therefore to wash his garments.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewThe priestהַכֹּהֵ֨ן (hak·kō·hên)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3548: Priestwill examineוְרָאָה֩ (wə·rā·’āh)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 7200: To seehim againשֵׁנִית֒ (šê·nîṯ)Number - ordinal feminine singularStrong's 8145: Second (an ordinal number)on the seventhהַשְּׁבִיעִי֮ (haš·šə·ḇî·‘î)Article | Number - ordinal masculine singularStrong's 7637: Seventh (an ordinal number)day,בַּיּ֣וֹם (bay·yō·wm)Preposition-b, Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3117: A dayand ifוְהִנֵּה֙ (wə·hin·nêh)Conjunctive waw | InterjectionStrong's 2009: Lo! behold!the soreהַנֶּ֔גַע (han·ne·ḡa‘)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 5061: Mark -- a blow, a spothas fadedכֵּהָ֣ה (kê·hāh)Verb - Piel - Perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 3544: Dim, dull, faintand has notוְלֹא־ (wə·lō-)Conjunctive waw | Adverb - Negative particleStrong's 3808: Not, nospreadפָשָׂ֥ה (p̄ā·śāh)Verb - Qal - Perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 6581: To spreadon the skin,בָּע֑וֹר (bā·‘ō·wr)Preposition-b, Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 5785: Skin, hide, leatherthe priestהַכֹּהֵן֙ (hak·kō·hên)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3548: Priestshall pronounce him clean;וְטִהֲר֤וֹ (wə·ṭi·hă·rōw)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Piel - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singular | third person masculine singularStrong's 2891: To be clean or pureitהִ֔יא (hî)Pronoun - third person feminine singularStrong's 1931: He, self, the same, this, that, as, areis a rash.מִסְפַּ֣חַת (mis·pa·ḥaṯ)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 4556: ScrufThe person must washוְכִבֶּ֥ס (wə·ḵib·bes)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Piel - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 3526: To trample, to washhis clothesבְּגָדָ֖יו (bə·ḡā·ḏāw)Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singularStrong's 899: A covering, clothing, treachery, pillageand be clean.וְטָהֵֽר׃ (wə·ṭā·hêr)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 2891: To be clean or pureJump to PreviousBright Clean Clothes Clothing Dark Dim Disease Diseased Examine Faded Garments Hasn't Increased Infection Less Mark Plague Pronounce Rash Scab Seventh Skin Somewhat Sore Spot Spread Spreadeth Wash Washed Weak
