Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(6) It shall be eaten the same day . . . and on the morrow.--The fact that the flesh of the animal might be eaten both on the day on which it was offered and on the following day, according to the authorities during the second Temple, shows that the second class of peace-offering is here meant, described in Leviticus 8:16, since the flesh of the first class of peace-offerings had to be eaten on the same day. (See Leviticus 7:15).Until the third day.--See Leviticus 7:17.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewIt shall be eatenיֵאָכֵ֖ל (yê·’ā·ḵêl)Verb - Nifal - Imperfect - third person masculine singularStrong's 398: To eaton the dayבְּי֧וֹם (bə·yō·wm)Preposition-b | Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 3117: A dayyou sacrifice it,זִבְחֲכֶ֛ם (ziḇ·ḥă·ḵem)Noun - masculine singular construct | second person masculine pluralStrong's 2077: A slaughter, the flesh of an animal, a sacrificeor on the next day;וּמִֽמָּחֳרָ֑ת (ū·mim·mā·ḥo·rāṯ)Conjunctive waw, Preposition-m | Noun - feminine singularStrong's 4283: The morrow, tomorrowbut what remainsוְהַנּוֹתָר֙ (wə·han·nō·w·ṯār)Conjunctive waw, Article | Verb - Nifal - Participle - masculine singularStrong's 3498: To jut over, exceed, to excel, to remain, be left, to leave, cause to abound, preserveon the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י (haš·šə·lî·šî)Article | Number - ordinal masculine singularStrong's 7992: Third, feminine a, third, a third, a third-story cell)dayי֣וֹם (yō·wm)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3117: A daymust be burned up.בָּאֵ֖שׁ (bā·’êš)Preposition-b, Article | Noun - common singularStrong's 784: A fireJump to PreviousAught Burned Burnt Eaten Fire Food Morrow Offer Offered Ought Sacrifice Sacrificing Third Used Whatever
