Ellicott's Commentary

Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers(18) And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs.--The additional sacrifices for the feast day consisted of two bullocks, one ram, and seven lambs, which were a burnt offering, and of a goat as a sin offering (Numbers 28:26-27; Numbers 28:30). Besides these, however, the new meat offering of the two loaves mentioned in the text before us is to be brought, and with it are to be offered one bullock, two rams, and seven lambs, all for burnt offerings.Parallel Commentaries ...HebrewAlong withעַל־ (‘al-)PrepositionStrong's 5921: Above, over, upon, againstthe breadהַלֶּ֗חֶם (hal·le·ḥem)Article | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 3899: Food, bread, grainyou are to presentוְהִקְרַבְתֶּ֣ם (wə·hiq·raḇ·tem)Conjunctive waw | Verb - Hifil - Conjunctive perfect - second person masculine pluralStrong's 7126: To come near, approachsevenשִׁבְעַ֨ת (šiḇ·‘aṯ)Number - masculine singular constructStrong's 7651: Seven, seven times, a week, an indefinite numberunblemishedתְּמִימִם֙ (tə·mî·mim)Adjective - masculine pluralStrong's 8549: Entire, integrity, truthmale lambsכְּבָשִׂ֤ים (kə·ḇā·śîm)Noun - masculine pluralStrong's 3532: A lamba year old,בְּנֵ֣י (bə·nê)Noun - masculine plural constructStrong's 1121: A sononeאֶחָ֖ד (’e·ḥāḏ)Number - masculine singularStrong's 259: United, one, firstyoung bull,וּפַ֧ר (ū·p̄ar)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singularStrong's 6499: Young bull, steerand twoשְׁנָ֑יִם (šə·nā·yim)Number - mdStrong's 8147: Two (a cardinal number)rams.וְאֵילִ֣ם (wə·’ê·lim)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine pluralStrong's 352: Strength, strong, a chief, a ram, a pilaster, an oak, strong treeThey will beיִהְי֤וּ (yih·yū)Verb - Qal - Imperfect - third person masculine pluralStrong's 1961: To fall out, come to pass, become, bea burnt offeringעֹלָה֙ (‘ō·lāh)Noun - feminine singularStrong's 5930: Whole burnt offeringto the LORD,לַֽיהוָ֔ה (Yah·weh)Preposition-l | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3068: LORD -- the proper name of the God of Israeltogether with their grain offeringsוּמִנְחָתָם֙ (ū·min·ḥā·ṯām)Conjunctive waw | Noun - feminine singular construct | third person masculine pluralStrong's 4503: A donation, tribute, a sacrificial offeringand drink offerings—וְנִסְכֵּיהֶ֔ם (wə·nis·kê·hem)Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine pluralStrong's 5262: A libation, a cast idolan offering made by fireאִשֵּׁ֥ה (’iš·šêh)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 801: A burnt-offering, a sacrificeof a pleasingנִיחֹ֖חַ (nî·ḥō·aḥ)Noun - masculine singularStrong's 5207: A quieting, soothing, tranquilizingaromaרֵֽיחַ־ (rê·aḥ-)Noun - masculine singular constructStrong's 7381: To smell, perceive odorto the LORD.לַיהוָֽה׃ (Yah·weh)Preposition-l | Noun - proper - masculine singularStrong's 3068: LORD -- the proper name of the God of IsraelJump to PreviousAroma Blemish Bread Bull Bullock Burnt Burnt-Offering Drink Fire First Lambs Meal Meat Meat-Offering Offer Offering Offerings Present Rams Seven Sweet Young
